Halloween Handprint Art Ideas
We have so many fun and cute Halloween handprint crafts for kids.
Choose from a ghost, pumpkin, Frankenstein, vampire, witch, monster, candy corn, zombie or bat! You can do painted handprints or if you skip down further you can see our handprint cards that are made with paper.
Supplies to Make Halloween Handprint Crafts
You only need a few supplies to make the painted Halloween handprints:
Acrylic paint – We like acrylic paint better than washable since it goes on brighter. Just make sure to wash hands right away and you shouldn’t have a problem getting it off. If you’re just doing the handprints for fun, washable works great! If you want them to be a keepsake we recommend acrylic paint. You can get a whole set of colors here.
White cardstock – print on white cardstock which is sturdier than regular paper or construction paper
Black sharpie – outline with a black sharpie to make the handprint stand out more

Directions to Make Halloween Handprint Art
Pumpkin Handprint
Add green paint to the fingers and orange paint to the palm. Press down on white cardstock, avoiding the thumb. Once dry, paint or draw on the pumpkin face. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Vampire Handprint
Add black paint to the fingers and light beige paint to the palm. Press down on white cardstock, avoiding the thumb. Once dry, paint or draw on the vampire face. Add a red bow. Use a fingerprint to make the ears with paint. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Ghost Handprint
Paint the hand white and press down on cardstock (black cardstock would really make the handprint pop!). Once dry, paint or draw on the ghost face. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Frankenstein Handprint
Add black paint to the fingers and green paint to the palm. Press down on white cardstock, avoiding the thumb. Once dry, paint or draw on the Frankenstein face. Add two bolts to the side of Frankenstein’s head. Use a fingerprint to make the ears with paint. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Candy Corn Handprint
Paint the top part of the hand white, middle orange and bottom yellow. Press down on white cardstock, avoiding the thumb. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Witch Handprint
Add black paint to the fingers and green paint to the palm. Press down on white cardstock, avoiding the thumb. Once dry, paint or draw on the Witch’s face. To make the witch a little happier, add googly eyes and no eyebrows. Paint the witch hat and hair on. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Monster Handprint
Use purple, red or orange paint to make a handprint. Once dry, add white fingerprint marks on to create the eyes. Once the white paint drys, add black circles inside the eye. Then add a small white dot to the black circle. Draw on a smile. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie.
Bat Handprint
Paint both hands black and press down on white cardstock so that they overlap as shown. Once dry, paint on two eyes with yellow paint and white teeth. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie. Also trace around the eyes and add a black dot with a marker in the center.
Zombie Handprint
Use green paint to make a handprint. Once dry, add yellow paint for the eyes and pink paint for the cheeks. Add red paint marks around the handprint. Draw on a smile. Then add stitch marks with a black marker. Trace around the final handprint with a black marker or sharpie. Also trace around the eyes and add a black dot with a marker in the center.
