How to Make Handprint Chicks
1. Stamp the handprint.
Apply yellow non-toxic tempera paint onto your child’s palm.
Guide their hand to stamp the handprint onto a piece of white cardstock.
Remove their hand and apply another layer of paint onto their hand to create additional handprints. Set aside to dry completely and wash the paint off of your child’s hand with warm soapy water.
2. Cut out the feet and beak.
Draw your own feet on construction paper or orange cardstock and cut it out. You can also paint the feet on with orange paint. For the beak, fold over a piece of orange paper and draw a triangle and then cut it out.
Glue the 2 feet onto the bottom of the palm.
3. Cut out the handprint.
Cut out the handprint, leaving a white edge around the handprint and feet.
Glue the handprint onto yellow paper and then cut that out, leaving a yellow border all the way around.
4. Add the face.
Fold the orange beak in half, and glue it onto the handprint, along with the 2 googly eyes.
To give the chick rosy cheeks, dip the end of a paintbrush or pencil into pink paint, and stamp a circle on either side of the chick’s beak. Allow the paint to dry completely.
Your handprint chick is complete! Make as many as you like – and don’t forget to write your child’s name and the date on the back!
