How to Make Toilet Paper Roll Love Bugs
1. Make the body.
Cut a piece of colored paper that is 4″ tall by 6″ long – this is just the right size to wrap around the outside of a standard toilet paper roll.
If you’re using a paper towel roll cut down to size make sure to cut your paper to the size that covers your unique roll size.
Wrap the paper around the toilet paper roll and use clear tape or glue to secure it in place.
2. Make the wings.
Print and cut out the free printable template found at the bottom of the post.
Trace the wings and wing details onto different shades of colored paper and cut them out.
Glue the small hearts onto the larger wing heart shape.
Use tacky glue or hot glue to glue the wings to the back of the paper roll.
3. Make the antenna.
Cut a piece of pipe cleaner about 3.75″ long and fold into a V shape.
Hot glue the base of the V inside the front of the paper roll (with adult assistance). You can also use a sticky adhesive glue dot or tacky glue (just allow enough time to dry).
Glue a pom pom onto the end of each antenna.
4. Add the googly eyes and mouth.
Use white or tacky glue to glue 2 googly eyes onto the front of the paper roll.
Draw on a small mouth with a black marker.
Dip the end of a paintbrush into red paint and stamp on 2 rosy cheeks below the eyes.
Once the paint has dried, your love bug is complete!
