We love how the cotton ball looks as the beard and trim, but if you don’t have them at home, you can use paper cut-outs instead.

How to Make a Santa Claus Turkey Disguise

1. Color the turkey head.

Print off the free disguise a turkey templates.

Use markers, paint, colored pencils, or crayons to color in the turkey’s head.

2. Make the template to cover the tail feathers.

Print out the templates (found at the bottom of the post) and choose if you would like to cover the tail feathers with a present sack or a large present.

Find a lid or small circle that is about the size of your turkey’s face – we used a bottle lid.

Line the template up on your turkey so that the bag covers the tail feathers completely. Place the lid over the turkey’s face and trace it.

Use scissors to cut out the circle on the template.

Trace the template onto a piece of brown paper for the Santa bag (or any color you’d like) and cut it out. If you are using the present box you can follow the same steps.

3. Cut out the rest of the paper shapes.

Print and cut out the rest of the templates included in the printable found at the bottom of the post. Kids can also color the templates and glue them on.

4. Glue on the present or present sack.

Use a glue stick to glue the present sack over the turkey.

If doing the present box version, first glue the present box onto the turkey. Then, cut out the ribbon details in contrasting paper. Glue the ribbon pieces on top, trimming them so that the turkey’s face is still visible.

Glue the Santa body over the turkey’s body.

7. Add cotton balls.

Gently unravel a cotton ball to glue on. Add some glue to the beard, hat brim and mitten ends.

This step is optional – if you don’t have cotton balls on hand, just use the templates for the hat and arm trim. Cut them out from white paper and glue them in place instead.

8. Add the final details.

Glue 3 small buttons to Santa’s suit. If you don’t have buttons, use a hole punch to make 3 small circles from white paper.

Attach a small white pom pom (or roll up a small piece of cotton ball) for the end of Santa’s hat. If you don’t have those in your stash, use the hat pom pom template included in the printable.

Cut a piece of string and tie it into a small bow, and glue it to the opening of the bag.
