How to Make a Giant Bubble Wand
1. Attach the screw hooks.
Start by attaching the screw hooks to the top of the wooden rods.
2. Cut the string.
You’ll need 2 pieces of string. One must be longer than the other (the piece that hangs down with the washer or weight on it needs to be longer). Measure one piece of string to be approximately 3.5 feet and the other piece of string to be approximately 5.5 feet. If you are slightly off these measurements, that is okay as long as one piece of string is much longer than the other.
3. Tie the short string to the screw hooks.
4. Add the washers to the long string.
Add the washers to the long string. You just need enough weight on the long string that it will hang down on it’s own.
5. Tie the long string to the screw hooks.
You should now have the bubble wand ready to go and it should look something like this:
In order to make giant bubbles you also need to make your own giant bubble solution (or buy some). Adding glycerin into the bubble solution makes the bubbles less likely to pop right away. You can also test this out by making bouncing bubbles.
How to Make Giant Bubble Solution
- Add 6 cups of water, 1.5 cups of dish soap (we prefer Dawn dish soap), 1/4 cup of glycerin and 1 tbsp. of baking powder.
- Mix together and let it sit overnight (it’s important to let it sit overnight for the glycerin to take effect).
Note: If you plan on using the full bubble solution, we recommend you do not do this on the grass. If the bubble solution spills out of the bin in concentrated amounts, it may ruin the grass. If you plan on just doing a few bubbles it should be fine, otherwise place the bubble solution bin over a sidewalk or driveway.
