Shrinky Dink Mistletoes Footprint
This is a cute Christmas keepsake you can make for friends and relatives! You can even follow the same steps and make a handprint or footprint on its own.
For a more personal touch, add the child’s name to the shrinky paper before baking.
Supplies To Make a Mistletoes Keychain
– Green Gloss Acrylic Paint – note: gloss is important as this will not flake off when baked. Regular acrylic may flake off. We used this DecoArt gloss enamels paint.
– 24mm split rings with keychains
– Hole puncher

How to Make Shrinky Dink Mistletoe Keychains
1. Start by making two footprints on the shrinky dink paper.
Paint one footprint and stamp, and then do the opposite footprint.
Painting Tips
Have kids sit down on a chair while you paint their foot. Place the shrinky dink paper on the ground and then have them stand on it. Lift up the foot gently so that you do not smudge the footprint when removing the foot.
To clean the feet: have a bowl of soapy water and a cloth ready when you are done so you do not have to travel to the sink. You can also use a baby wipe.
2. Using a red permanent marker, draw a bow and add mistletoes underneath.
You can also add the child’s name and year.
Write the word mistletoes in capital letters and then fill it in to make the letters thicker.
3. Let the paint dry and then cut out the footprints.
Round out the edges of the paper and leave a little space at the top to hole punch.
4. Hole punch the top of the shrinky dink paper and then bake.
Bake according to package directions.
Place the shrinky paper paint side up on a piece of parchment paper.
Baking Tip
If your footprints come out a little curled, immediately press them with a spatula when warm to flatten them out.
What if my shrinky paper did not shrink all of the way?
If your footprints are still large and didn’t shrink you can put them back into the oven and bake for a few more minutes. If they are still really curled and they won’t press down, you can put them back in the oven to bake a little longer. They will uncurl if left in the oven long enough.
What if my shrinky paper is still curled?
If you find they are curled and stuck together, have an adult take them out of the oven and pull them apart. They will be hot, so gloves will be needed. Once apart, place back in the oven to finish baking.
5. Add a split ring and keychain.
You can also turn these into ornaments and add an ornament hanger to place on the Christmas tree!
6. To protect the paint from scratching off, add a layer of mod podge to the paint side of the shrinky dink.
