If you’re looking for a fun St Patrick’s day craft – try making this cute clothespin leprechaun craft! What we love most about it is that kids can play with their little leprechaun when they are done. And it’s easy to make with our free printable.

Clothespin Leprechaun Craft for Kids

This clothespin leprechaun craft is easy for little leprechauns of all ages to create. And if you’re a teacher, these would look great placed around the classroom for decoration.

Place these leprechauns around your home to get into the festive spirit for St Patrick’s Day!

Supplies Needed

2 mini clothespins
2 regular clothespins
Gold and Green Glitter Paper
Black Cardstock
Brown Cardstock
White Cardstock
Large Orange Pom Poms
Small Orange Pom Pom
Paint for the leprechaun’s face or you can use colored paper instead. You can find a selection of colors here.
Pink paint for the cheeks
Green paint for the clothespins
Sharpie or black marker
Small googly eyes

What kind of glue should I use?

For paper you can use regular white glue.

For pom poms or googly eyes we like to use hot glue (with adult assistance) or you can use a tacky glue.

Steps to Make a St Patrick’s Day Clothespin Craft

1. First, print off the template. You can get the template at the bottom of the post on the email form that shows a preview of the template.

2. Trace around the body circle on green glitter cardstock or regular green cardstock.

Trace around the head on white cardstock and then paint the head. Alternatively you can use colored cardstock for the head.

Paint the clothespins green. You’ll need 2 mini clothespins for the arms and 2 regular clothespins for the legs.

3. Make the belt.

Cut out the belt strip from black cardstock and glue to the body.

Trace around the belt buckle template on gold glitter cardstock. Bend the buckle slightly to make a mark with scissors in the middle so you can cut out the center.

4. Make the leprechaun hat by following the same steps for the body.

First glue a strip for the brim of the hat. Then add the buckle by bending it slightly to make a mark with scissors in the middle so you can cut out the center.

5. Make the leprechaun face.

Add two small googly eyes. Glue on a small orange pom pom for the nose. Add a smirk with a sharpie. Using the back of a paintbrush, add two small pink dots for the cheeks.

6. Glue large pom poms around the face to make a beard.

7. Cut out the boots from brown cardstock and glue to the regular clothespins. Glue to the part of the clothespin that does not open up. Leave a little space at the bottom so that the paper will not hit the ground when the leprechaun is standing up.

Glue the head to the body. Then attach the clothespins to the body.
